Importing Pets- “Arriving in Oman”

1. An import permit must be obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture before arrival. We can obtain this for you at a fee. ( if the pet is not with complete documentation the authorities may have to keep them under quarantine until all paperwork is complete this will further cost.)

2. Dogs and cats must be accompanied by an original health certificate and rabies vaccination certificate. The rabies vaccination certificate must show the valid sticker from the rabies vial (batch no, manufacturer, Date of Expiry), the details must not be handwritten.

3. The rabies vaccine must be at least 1 month old, and should not go beyond 6 months upon arrival. Unless Rabies vaccinations are part of an ongoing yearly renewal, 12 months is permissible. Therefore, dogs and cats must be 4 months old in order to enter Oman, because Rabies vaccines can only be given when Dog/Cat reaches 3 months old.

4. Dogs must be registered after arrival in Oman.

Exporting Pets – “Leaving Oman”

Depending on your country of destination requirements may differ, In some countries it is mandatory to have a valid rabies titer test (or rabies serological test/rabies serum neutralization test) may be required for entry into certain countries. The test result must be >= 0.5 IU/mL.

Therefore preparation in such cases is advisable to be done well in advance at least 2 months in advance.

1- Updating vaccinations: all vaccinations should be up to date.
a- Vaccinations for dogs are ( Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, Leptospirosis + Rabies ) & for cats are ( Tricat- rhinatricitis, calicivirus, parainfluenza, peneleukeimia+ Rabies)
b- Rabies must be done 30 days prior to traveling & should not go beyond 6 months unless rabies vaccinations are part of an ongoing yearly renewal, 11 months is permissible.
(All vaccinations should be verified by vaccine sticker with valid batch number, date of expiry, and manufacturers name from the vial on your pet’s passport/vaccination card)

2- Health certificate: after a complete physical examination is done by your veterinarian he/she will issue you with a valid health certificate, this should be obtained 2-3 days prior to travel.

3- A health certificate for export must be obtained from the airport vet, 2 days before departure. (Accompany with your pet).
